Archive7/1/02 through 7/13/02Nude Ascending A StaircaseSo, a whole lot fo shit has happened in the past week. I could have probably had three or four fairly lengthy posts covering it all. But, quite frankly, I haven't felt much like writing. Part of it has been a rather nasty cold that has left me less than energetic. Part of it is a general frustration with my life as it is that leaves me uninterested in examining and reguritating it. A lot of it is being pissed off at a large number of people for a large number of reasons, reaching a critical point and sort of shutting down. Whenever I get pissed off and frustrated beyond all reason, there is some sort of failsafe in my brain that just shuts everything down and starts sending messages telling me to plop down on the couch and read, pluck on my bass or just zone in front of the tube. I wonder if it is this failsafe that separates violent gunmen from the rest of us. Or maybe I'm just a freak. Probably it is the latter.

What was that? Max, I'm sorry, maybe I don't get Bob the Angry Flower, but WTF??? I'm not a big fan of Creationism and rabid creationists make me snicker as much as the next guy. But, how did that help? I didn't even find it funny.  What I do find funny are these t-shirts and bumper stickers that are the next "evolutionary" step in the Jesus fish vs. the Darwin fish.  I'm sure you all have seen them - Christians put these little, shiny plastic fish on their cars - this early Christian symbol has become popular again. Then, some people started putting little plastic fish on their cars, only the fish had the word "Darwin" on them and they had little feet. I thought they were funny at the time - witty even. But, let's face it, they were outright inflamatory and frankly they were a bit of Creationist baiting.  Now, I see these lovely t-shirts, stickers and even the little plastic fish that show a larger fish with the word Jesus eating the little be-footed Darwin fish. I find this funny because this is a basic tenant of evolutionary theory - survival of the fittest. The bigger fish eat the littler fish and survive to pass on their genetic heritage. Yet, these anti-darwinists, anti-evolutionaries don't see that their own zealotry has blinded them. That's funny!  And, I swear, the next dufus that says anything like "man evolved from monkeys" is getting decked! WE DIDN'T EVOLVE FROM MONKEYS! Geez! Evolutionary theory never says anything about modern man evolving from modern monkeys! That would be similar to saying I evolved from my cousin. Monkeys, Apes and Man all share a common ancestor. And we got further proof of that this week! This also sheds light on the fact that science, unlike religion, is refreshed by the unearthing of new information.  Sometimes a good comment becomes a good post! :)

Too freaking hot!Sorry, folks, it is just too hot to do anything on the site - this will be a short post. We who live in Seattle are not prepared for hot weather as we get so little of it. We are living under the fans tonight and I don't know how I'm going to get any sleep! I have about four things I want to write about - but I don't bloody well feel like doing it. So, I ain't gonna! How do you all feel about all the new ads? Remember, we here at IWDC want you to think of this site as your site, too. They are all affliate programs, which means we don't get a dime unless people buy stuff or sign up for stuff. It's the only ads we can get since we are so low traffic. But, if anyone does deal with any of these sponsors and has a bad experience with them - I want to know! I have full control over who lists on this site. If you don't like'em, I'll yank their asses! Anyway, sweating to death - I hope where ever you are you have air conditioning. Seeya!
Posted by: Jericho - 7/10/02 - 9:39 pm - Invasion - All I ever wanted ...This week the people of the United States discovered that military planners often make several plans for a major war operation. When those planners ego's get out of joint, sometimes the results spill over into the media. As we can see here, CNN, via the New York Times, got wind of a plan to invade Iraq. Not to be outdone, the newshounds here at IWDC have gotten a hold of an official at the Pentagon to verify the issue. However, we got more than we bargained for. The offical we spoke to tells us that he is involved with a planned invasion of the first ever discovered alien civilisation! As it turns out, the hunt for exoplanets and the work of Seti@Home researchers has yeilded more than anyone was previously aware. Scientists have discovered a civilisation on planet Zygote in the Fallopian system. The Zygotians are, according to our source, a peaceful people with no visible means of defense. They possess an exremly high level of technology, even interstellar travel. However, there is no pollution or poverty and they seem to be satisfied with one planet. Our source tells us "The Bush administration and planners feel that the Zygotians are highly anti-american. They could be producing weapons of mass destruction or harboring terrorists. Messages sent to the Zygotians have not been returned." The source further revealed that these messages, sent late last month, will take 197 years to arrive at Zygote and the same to be returned. "These people have never even heard of Madonna or Bill Gates," our source tells us, "they have no cars or hamburgers. We will be introducing them to a better way of life. We will be bringing them God, for Christ's sakes!" The plan that IWDC has access to is dramatic. However, our source within the Defense Department feels that recent technological developments are being ignored. The plan calls for 400,000 troops, planes and tanks to be shipped to Zygote in "Buck Rogers-like Super Rocket Cruisers". Our source was angered by the time table for this plan, which the Bush administration wants to execute before the next election. "If they want this to happen," says our source, "they had better get NASA up to speed. Since they haven't had a real budget since the 70's, I doubt NASA is up to the task. Maybe they should call the ILM!"
